Aggregate is one of the principal materials in the infrastructure sector. With the rapid expansion of construction projects, aggregate supply has fallen short of demand, creating a significant shortfall. So, what is the current investment cost for commonly used stone crushers?

Large rocks, once crushed, become sand and gravel aggregates widely utilised in infrastructure sectors such as roads, railways, and bridges. Different applications of these aggregates demand varying stone specifications. Typically, crushed stone for sand production requires a particle size under 4.75 millimetres. Sand is graded according to its fineness modulus (a higher modulus indicates coarser sand):

Coarse sand: Fineness modulus 3.7–3.1, average particle size ≥0.5mm;

Medium sand: Fineness modulus 3.0–2.3, average particle size 0.5–0.35 mm;

Fine sand: Fineness modulus 2.2–1.6, average particle size 0.35–0.25 mm;

Very fine sand: Fineness modulus 1.5–0.7, average particle size below 0.25 mm.

What are the common crushing equipment used in sand and gravel plants?

1. Jaw Crusher

The jaw crusher is virtually indispensable as primary crushing equipment in sand and gravel production lines. Its core structural components are the jaw plates and frame. Two jaw plates crush materials by mimicking the chewing motion of an animal. Featuring a simple structure and high crushing ratio, it can reduce the particle size of large materials to below 400mm, providing suitably sized feed for subsequent secondary crushing stages. Feed size: 120–1500mm

Production capacity: 1–2200 t/h.

2. Cone Crusher

Unlike impact crushers, cone crushers employ a laminar crushing principle. The ingenious combination of crushing chamber design and frequency eliminates crushing blind spots and minimises over-crushing. The output predominantly consists of cubical particles, significantly reducing the generation of needle-like, flaky materials and fine powder. Available in primary, secondary, and tertiary crushing models. Feed size: 65–300 mm. Product size: 3–60 mm. Capacity: 12–1000 t/h.

3. Impact Crusher

Also termed the third-generation impact sand-making machine, this unit employs both ‘stone-on-stone’ and ‘stone-on-iron’ crushing mechanisms. It simultaneously produces sand from aggregate while shaping the particles. The resulting sand exhibits excellent grain shape, cubic form, and freedom from tension cracks. Its fineness modulus is adjustable, ensuring rational gradation with minimal associated stone powder. Feed size: 30–60 mm. Produces standard manufactured sand with particles smaller than 4.75 mm. Processing capacity: 12–650 t/h.

How much does a stone crusher cost?

Given the wide variety of stone crusher types and models, coupled with numerous manufacturers, determining a specific price is challenging. Furthermore, some units are sold directly by manufacturers, others through intermediaries, and used equipment is also available. Consequently, even machines with identical output capacities may exhibit slight variations in technical specifications such as motor power and finished product size, leading to significant price differences during sales. For precise pricing of stone crushers, please consult our online customer service representatives directly. We are dedicated to serving you!
