Important Considerations for Installing the Eccentric Sleeve of a Cone Crusher
Cone crushers play a crucial role in mining production lines, particularly as secondary crushing equipment. Cone crushers are highly important crushing devices in mineral processing. The eccentric shaft sleeve is one of the key components of a cone crusher. It is connected to the large gear via a tapered key and is mounted within the machine's shaft sleeve.
To balance the inertial forces generated by the swinging of the crushing cone, the eccentric shaft sleeve contacts the material sleeve on the machine frame along its entire length. The thick edge of the eccentric shaft sleeve closely adheres to the lining sleeve of the machine frame, while the counterweight is typically mounted on the large gear. Below, we will provide a detailed overview of the installation process for the eccentric shaft sleeve of a cone crusher:
A. Pre-installation Preparation
Install the adjustment pads on the base cover, then secure the thrust bearings to the adjustment pads using screws. When installing the eccentric shaft, the protrusion on the lowest pad should be seated in the groove of the base cover to ensure stability. Screw the upper pad of the cone crusher thrust bearing onto the eccentric shaft sleeve. Then use the special lifting ears on the gear to install it into the sleeve.
B. Precautions During Installation
During installation, it is essential to carefully inspect the clearance between the eccentric shaft sleeve of the cone crusher and the straight sleeve of the frame, as well as the upper and lower clearances between the main shaft and its sleeve. Excessive or insufficient clearances can cause abnormal machine operation and may damage the equipment to some extent. The clearance between the eccentric shaft sleeve and the straight sleeve should be consistent in both directions. The clearance between the main shaft and the bearing sleeve must meet the requirements for balanced contact between them to ensure normal oscillation of the eccentric shaft. These clearances must be strictly installed according to the design specifications.
After the eccentric sleeve, cone gear, and other components of the cone crusher are successfully installed on the frame, the gear meshing clearance is measured using lead pressure or shaft rotation. The clearance between the eccentric sleeve and the frame sleeve is large, and the eccentric sleeve always rotates in the opposite direction to the straight sleeve. Therefore, the centre of the cone gear of the cone crusher performs circular motion with a radius equal to half the clearance between the eccentric sleeve and the frame sleeve. Thus, the actual clearance value should not be too large. If the side clearance between the gears is too small, it will impose additional loads on the gears and the drive shaft.
