Equipment Selection Requirements for Manufactured Sand Production
Producing qualified manufactured sand aggregates requires specialized equipment and rational process configuration. Manufactured sand production equipment comprises a series of dedicated crushing, screening, and conveying machinery. Only through primary crushing, secondary crushing, tertiary crushing, and screening can large ore blocks be transformed into usable aggregates for construction projects. Generally, what should be considered when selecting equipment for a new, complete manufactured sand production line?
1. Selection of Primary Crushing Equipment
Primary crushers for aggregate production typically include jaw crushers, impact crushers, and gyratory crushers. For high-capacity requirements exceeding 1000 t/h, gyratory crushers are recommended. OCP's next-generation gyratory crushers are designed as primary crushing equipment for super-large mines and quarrying projects, enabling continuous primary crushing operations with high throughput and superior crushing efficiency.
2. Selection of Medium and Fine Crushing Equipment
For medium and fine crushing, cone crushers and impact crushers are common choices, while sand makers are typically employed for the final stage of sand production and fine crushing/shaping. Cone crushers are primarily suited for crushing highly abrasive rocks with high hardness, producing minimal powdery material. Impact crushers are better suited for rocks with medium to low hardness and abrasiveness, yielding a higher proportion of powdery material.
3. Selection of Screening and Washing Equipment
Stone screening equipment generally employs linear vibrating screens or circular vibrating screens. Linear vibrating screens have lower throughput and are suitable for fine-grained screening and low-volume production, also capable of draining moisture from wet materials. Circular vibrating screens offer high screening efficiency and large throughput, making them ideal for coarse-grained screening and large-scale production. When equipped with a pressure water spray system, circular vibrating screens can function as stone washing equipment. Hydraulic flushing causes stones to tumble and vibrate on the screen surface, effectively removing surface-adhered fine silt. For mud and stone powder in the 0-4.75mm product range, spiral sand washers or bucket wheel sand washers are typically selected for washing to produce manufactured sand.
4. Selection of Fine Sand Recovery Equipment
Fine sand recovery units are applied in wet-process aggregate production systems to reclaim fine sand (particles below 0.16mm) carried away by wash water. This reduces fine sand loss. The recovered fine sand can be blended into finished sand as needed, ensuring optimal gradation, The fineness modulus meets requirements, enhancing sand quality and economic efficiency while reducing fine sand discharge and preventing secondary environmental damage. The XH Series Fine Sand Recovery Unit produced by OCP Heavy Industry primarily consists of a motor, slurry pump, hydrocyclone, linear vibrating screen, washing tank, and return hopper. It features high recovery efficiency, low operating costs, and the capability to recover up to 85% of fine particles from total discharge. This ensures thorough recovery of fine grains and reduces the frequency of sedimentation tank cleaning.
5. Selection of Wastewater and Slurry Treatment Equipment
Wastewater containing silt from washed sand and gravel aggregates requires treatment to achieve zero discharge from the production line. After evaluating wastewater treatment options, a system comprising a cyclone unit, thickener, and filter press was selected for treating wastewater and slurry. This approach prevents direct discharge of silt-laden wastewater into sedimentation ponds, thereby avoiding issues such as large footprint requirements and difficult pond maintenance.
