Sand is produced by mechanically processing various types of rock (such as quartz, river pebbles, and granite). It is a primary construction material required across various industrial sectors. Abundant in supply and easy to extract, sand meets environmental standards and has received strong promotion and support. So, what are these sand-producing machines called? What types are available? And how much does one cost?

What are the machines used to produce sand called? They are known as sand makers, stone sand makers, or sand crushers, though the terminology varies by region. Additionally, since there are many types of equipment, the names differ accordingly. Based on extensive research, impact-type sand makers and composite sand makers tend to perform better. The choice should be based on the size of the raw material, production requirements, site conditions, and budget. 1. Impact Sand Making Machine

With an hourly output of 40–650 tons, this machine is suitable for various hard and brittle materials under 50 mm in size. It combines two working modes—stone-on-stone and stone-on-iron—along with two feeding methods. The finished product is relatively fine. Improvements in the four-port impeller design and the impact angle within the crushing chamber enhance efficiency and increase output. Equipped with a modular ejection head, only the worn parts need to be replaced. Additionally, the upper and lower peripheral liners can be flipped to extend service life. Combined with internal airflow recirculation in the vortex chamber, a pulse dust collector, and a noise suppressor, it meets environmental protection requirements. It connects to a central control system via a DCS interface for 24/7 monitoring, ensuring easy operation and reduced labor and material costs.

2. Composite Sand Making Machine

With an hourly output of 5–100 tons, this machine is suitable for medium-hardness materials under 100 mm. Optimized through key technical parameters, it is a newly developed fine crushing/ coarse grinding product. It enables single-unit operation, features a compact, space-saving design, and eliminates the need for screen bars. This prevents clogging when processing materials with high clay content, even at moisture levels up to 8%. Wear-prone components are made of high-hardness, high-toughness, multi-alloy wear-resistant materials, extending service life by 2–3 times. The gap between the hammer heads and impact plates is adjustable to accommodate various feed sizes.

Case Study: Sand Production

Raw Material: River pebbles

Feed Size: Below 750 mm

Processing Capacity: 200 tons per hour

Output Particle Size: 0.25–5 mm

Equipment Configuration: Vibrating feeder + jaw crusher + fine jaw crusher + impact sand maker + vibrating screen + sand washer + conveyor;

Based on the client’s production requirements and the site conditions, the project manager conducted an on-site survey and recommended this impact sand-making machine. A production plan was designed, primarily pairing it with jaw crushers for primary coarse crushing and secondary fine crushing, ensuring high operational synergy. The indoor facility is equipped with environmental dust control systems to meet environmental standards. The equipment features low wear and a long service life, delivering significant economic benefits.

How much does a sand-making machine cost?

Currently, the prices of sand-making machines on the market vary. This is due to differences in output capacity among various equipment models, the multitude of manufacturers, and fluctuations in supply and demand at different times, all of which contribute to price variations. For specific pricing on sand-making machines, our managers are available to provide direct quotes. We welcome you to inquire online.
