A. Working Principle of Vertical Impact Crushers:
Depending on operational conditions or the material being crushed, vertical impact crushers employ either ‘stone-on-stone’ or ‘stone-on-iron’ crushing methods by controlling the feed approach. Material enters the crusher via the feed hopper, where a distributor splits it into two streams. One stream enters the high-speed rotating impeller through its central opening, where it is rapidly accelerated to hundreds of times the gravitational acceleration. Projected at 60-70 metres per second through three evenly spaced channels in the impeller, this stream first collides with material falling from the distributor's periphery, before collectively impacting the material lining within the vortex chamber. Rebounding off this lining, the material is deflected diagonally upwards towards the chamber ceiling, altering its trajectory to descend. This creates a continuous curtain of material ejected from the rotor channels. Within the vortex crushing chamber, each piece undergoes multiple probabilistic impacts, friction, and grinding actions. The crushed material is discharged through the lower outlet.
