Two New Lokotrack Models Fill Gaps in Recycling and Aggregate Production

Metso expanded its Lokotrack mobile crushing portfolio on September 3, 2026, with two models aimed at distinct applications. The Lokotrack LT400RS is a 70-tonne diesel-electric mobile impact crusher built for demanding aggregate recycling and demolition work. The Lokotrack LT200HPX is a mobile cone crusher that brings integrated screening to compact aggregate production. Jarmo Vuorenpää, Vice President of Track Solutions at Metso, framed the launch as a response to two important applications: recycling and aggregate production, with the aim of helping customers improve productivity, lower cost per tonne, and maintain high uptime. Both machines belong to Metso’s diesel-electric Lokotrack EC Range, which powers all process functions electrically rather than hydraulically.

LT400RS: An Impact Crusher Designed Around Demolition Feed

Construction and demolition waste is harder to process than quarry rock. Concrete, asphalt, and mixed demolition debris contain rebar, wood, and other contaminants, and their quality varies from one load to the next. The LT400RS is engineered for this reality. At its core sits the Nordberg NP1213MR impact crusher with a 250 kW electric drive, supported by a 430 kW genset rating and heavy-duty blow bars specified for recycling service. Material separation is handled by a large two-deck product screen (6.4 m²) , a wind sifter for lightweight contaminants, and an adjustable electromagnet for steel removal. The screen can produce one, two, or three end products, and can be detached when screening is not required or transported separately.

LT200HPX: Compact Cone Crushing With Pre-Screen and Closed Circuit

The LT200HPX addresses a different problem: producing specification aggregate with fewer machines on site. It combines a two-deck pre-screen, a Nordberg HP200e cone crusher, and a two-deck product screen on a single track-mounted chassis. The pre-screen removes fines before they reach the crusher, which increases capacity and reduces wear on crushing components. A case study from Veraisen Sora in Finland documented the LT200HPX reaching 240–260 t/h in 0–32 mm production using a two-machine process, without a separate mobile screen. The integrated product screen can produce up to three sized end products, and a recirculation conveyor returns oversize material to the crusher for closed-circuit operation.

Diesel-Electric Drive: Grid Connection as Standard, Lower Fuel Use as the Result

Both machines use Metso’s diesel-electric powerline, and both offer an external power connection as standard. When site electricity is available, the machine can run from the grid, reducing fuel consumption, emissions, and noise. When grid power is not available, the onboard diesel genset drives the electric process functions. This is not a hybrid system that alternates between diesel and electric depending on load. It is a diesel-electric system where the diesel engine generates electricity and the crushing and conveying functions run on electric motors. The practical benefit is lower fuel consumption per tonne and a simpler hydraulic system with fewer leak points. Metso positions the LT400RS as part of its Metso Plus offering, which supports more sustainable aggregates operations.

Automation and Maintenance Access: The ICX System and Rotor Safety

Both machines use Metso’s new ICX automation system, which features a larger display, easier troubleshooting, and production recipes for different applications. On the LT400RS, a patented mechanical system prevents access to the crusher until the rotor has come to a complete stop, making wear part changes safer. Lowering functions for key conveyors simplify maintenance, and generous clearances around the machine improve cleaning access. These are not headline features, but they matter in daily operation. A crusher that can be inspected and serviced quickly spends more time producing and less time waiting for a maintenance window.

Market Context: Mobile Crushing Demand Keeps Rising

The global construction waste crusher market was valued at approximately USD 2.42 billion in 2025 and is forecast to reach USD 3.27 billion by 2032, growing at a compound annual rate of 4.8%. Mobile crushers are gaining share because they can be deployed directly at demolition sites, reducing transport costs and improving material recovery efficiency. The mobile crusher and screener market is projected to grow from USD 3.73 billion in 2025 to USD 6.20 billion by 2034, a compound annual rate of 5.83%. Metso’s expansion of the Lokotrack EC Range is a direct response to that demand, and the two new models give the company a stronger position in both recycling and aggregate production.

A Direct Alternative for Operators Who Need the Machine, Not the Platform

The LT400RS and LT200HPX are well-engineered machines, and the diesel-electric platform they sit on represents where the industry is heading. But not every operation needs a fully integrated Metso plant, and not every budget can absorb the price of a premium-brand mobile crusher with a global service agreement attached.

OCP Mechanical Company has manufactured jaw crushers, cone crushers, impact crushers, VSI sand making machines, vibrating screens, feeders, sand washers, and complete mobile crushing plants for over 40 years. We supply tracked and wheel-mounted units configured for the feed material and product specification of each project, with direct factory pricing and no distributor margin. For an operator processing demolition waste, that means a mobile impact crusher with an integrated screen and overband magnet. For an aggregate producer, it means a mobile cone crusher with a pre-screen and closed-circuit capability. The configuration is matched to the site, not pulled from a catalogue.

Our online customer service team is available 24 hours a day to discuss specifications, provide updated pricing, and help you work out which mobile crushing configuration suits your operation.
