How to adjust the discharge opening of a cone crusher

A cone crusher is a type of crushing machinery suitable for the crushing of raw materials in industries such as metallurgy, construction, road building, chemistry, and silicates. Depending on the different crushing principles and product particle sizes, it is further divided into many models.

Crusher machines are widely used in various sectors such as mining, smelting, building materials, highways, railways, water conservancy, and chemical industries. Cone crushers feature a high crushing ratio, high efficiency, low energy consumption, and uniform product particle size, making them suitable for medium and fine crushing of various minerals and rocks.  

During the crushing process, the moving cone liner and fixed cone liner undergo continuous wear, causing the discharge opening to gradually increase. To maintain a consistent product particle size, the discharge opening size must be adjusted continuously according to the wear condition. The discharge opening is adjusted by raising or lowering the stationary cone liner using the sawtooth-shaped threads between the adjustment ring and the support sleeve. To ensure proper lubrication of the tooth-shaped threads and facilitate adjustment and disassembly, the threads must have sufficient clearance.

After adjustment, the discharge opening size can be measured by passing a steel wire with a lead ball through the crushing chamber to the discharge opening. For newly processed liners, measuring one point is sufficient; for unprocessed or worn liners, 6–8 points should be measured. Once the discharge opening meets the size requirements, the adjustment ring must be locked using the locking cylinder; otherwise, startup is not permitted.
