Employing the principle of laminar crushing, flatter and longer particles are broken first, resulting in uniform product size and excellent particle shape. So, what exactly is the principle of laminar crushing?


Layer compression crushing represents an alternative approach to traditional crushing methods. Traditional crushing methods in cone crushers combine crushing, impact, fracturing, and grinding, but all rely on the crusher's working parts directly acting on a “single layer” of material. In contrast, laminar crushing utilizes the crusher's working parts to impact and compress multiple layers of material accumulated within the crushing chamber. This causes particles to mutually compress, split, fracture, and grind against each other, achieving fragmentation. Therefore, single-cylinder hydraulic cone crushers capable of achieving layer crushing offer higher crushing efficiency. Typically, during actual operation of cone crushers, single-particle crushing occurs only when the material size is large or the crushing chamber dimensions are too small to form an effective crushing layer. This means single-particle crushing happens only at the feed and discharge ports. Thus, achieving good particle shape requires the material to undergo layer crushing.
