Based on quality, quartz sand can be classified into ordinary quartz sand, refined quartz sand, high-purity quartz sand, fused quartz sand, and silica powder.
1. Ordinary quartz sand: particle size range 5–220 mesh.
2. Refined quartz sand: particle size range 5–480 mesh.
3. High-purity quartz sand: particle size range 40–70, 70–140 mesh.
4. Fused quartz sand: Physical properties: Appearance is colourless transparent blocks, particles, or white powder.
5. Silicon powder: Appearance is grey or greyish-white powder. Refractory temperature >1600°C. Available in 300 mesh, 400 mesh, 600 mesh, and 1000 mesh. Primarily used in the electronics and electrical industries.
B. Quartz Stone Sand-Making Process
The quartz sand processing process primarily includes five steps:
1. Coarse crushing: Large quartz stone blocks are fed into a jaw crusher via a vibrating screen for coarse crushing.
2. Medium and fine crushing: The coarsely crushed material is fed into a cone crusher to reduce the particle size to below 5 centimetres.
3. Sand Making: The sand-making machine shapes and produces sand from the stones, producing coarse, medium, and fine sand as required.
4. Screening: Vibrating screens separate finished products of different particle sizes and return non-conforming products for reprocessing to improve material utilisation.
5. Sand Washing: Removes impurities from the quartz sand.
