Differences Between Single-Cylinder and Multi-Cylinder Cone Crushers

2. Operating Mechanism

The inner cone's trajectory appears to oscillate back and forth within the crushing chamber while rotating slowly. Material is crushed by the oscillating inner cone. Multi-cylinder Hydraulic Cone Crusher: Upon entering the crushing chamber through the feed opening, material undergoes crushing through the combined action of impact, compression, grinding, and kneading by the eccentric shaft and bowl liner. The hydraulic safety system expels the support sleeve and fixed cone assembly from obstructions via hydraulic pressure during iron overload faults or stalling incidents. This provides excellent protection while significantly reducing maintenance frequency and enhancing operational efficiency.


3. Crushing Performance


When processing soft or weathered ores, the single-cylinder hydraulic cone crusher excels with its high throughput capacity. Conversely, the multi-cylinder hydraulic cone crusher demonstrates superior performance when crushing medium-hard to high-hardness ores.


For fine crushing of medium-hard or harder ores, under identical specifications, the multi-cylinder model produces a greater volume of qualified output. Generally, the harder the ore, the more pronounced the difference in performance between the two types.


4. Operational and Maintenance Differences


Single-cylinder cone crusher: Featuring a single hydraulic cylinder, it boasts a simpler, more compact structure with lower failure rates and easier maintenance, delivering more pronounced long-term performance benefits.
