Daily Inspection of Jaw Crushers: These Eight Points Are Key
As the primary crusher in stone crushing production lines, the jaw crusher is widely used in coarse crushing operations for various minerals and rocks across industries such as mining, construction, chemical engineering, and water conservancy. This is due to its unique cavity design, superior operational characteristics, high throughput capacity, large crushing ratio, and energy-efficient performance. However, due to the harsh operating environment, attention must be paid to daily operation and maintenance, including regular inspections, to enhance the crusher's production capacity. So, what key points should be emphasized during inspections?
1. Check bearing temperature. The bearing alloy used for casting bearing shells functions normally only below 100°C. If temperatures exceed this threshold, immediately stop the machine for inspection and troubleshooting. Inspection method: If a thermometer is installed on the bearing, directly observe its reading. If no thermometer is present, touch the bearing shell with the back of your hand. If it becomes too hot to hold for more than approximately 5 seconds, the temperature has exceeded 60°C.
2. Verify lubrication system functionality. Listen for abnormal noises like knocking from the gear oil pump. Monitor oil pressure gauge readings. Inspect oil tank levels and check for leaks in the lubrication system. Replenish oil promptly if levels are low.
3. Examine return oil lines for contaminants like metal filings. If present, immediately shut down the machine and inspect bearings and other lubricated components.
4. Inspect all connecting components such as bolts and flywheel keys for looseness.
5. Examine the wear condition of jaw plates and transmission components. Check tie rod springs for cracks and ensure they function properly.
6. Maintain equipment cleanliness at all times, ensuring no dust accumulation, oil contamination, oil leaks, water leaks, electrical leaks, or dust leaks. Pay particular attention to preventing dust and debris from entering the lubrication system and lubricated areas. Such contaminants not only disrupt the lubricating oil film, causing loss of lubrication and increased wear, but also act as abrasives that accelerate equipment wear and shorten service life.
7. Periodically clean the lubricant filter with gasoline. Allow it to dry completely before reuse.
8. Replace lubricating oil in the tank regularly, ideally every six months. This is because lubricating oil degrades continuously during use due to exposure to air, heat (oxidation rate doubles for every 10°C increase in temperature), contamination by dust particles, moisture, or fuel ingress, and other factors. This degradation causes the oil to lose its lubricating properties, necessitating a reasonable replacement cycle.
