What are the differences between hydraulic jaw crushers and traditional jaw crushers?


First, let's examine the working principle of jaw crushers: An electric motor drives the belt and pulley system, causing the eccentric shaft to move the movable jaw up and down. When the movable jaw rises, the angle between the toggle plate and the movable jaw increases, pushing the movable jaw plate toward the fixed jaw plate. Simultaneously, the material is crushed or split, achieving the crushing objective. When the movable jaw descends, the angle between the toggle plate and the movable jaw decreases. Under the action of the tie rod and spring, the movable jaw plate moves away from the fixed jaw plate, allowing the crushed material to discharge from the lower opening of the crushing chamber. As the motor continues to rotate, the movable jaw performs periodic crushing and discharging cycles, enabling batch production.


The hydraulic jaw crusher represents an upgrade to the jaw crusher. As a new variant within the double-swing jaw crusher family, it expands the application scope of the double-recovery jaw crusher. This model is suitable for crushing processes containing a significant amount of extremely hard, unbreakable objects (referred to as material obstructions). It enables automatic crushing, unloading to expel obstructions, and reset crushing for continuous operation without personnel support. It is the ideal crushing equipment for metal slag (such as steel slag) and coal gangue crushing processing lines.


It consists of a double-swing jaw crusher, a hydraulic system, and an electrical control system. Compared to conventional double-swing jaw crushers, this model incorporates a hydraulic protection support device between the toggle plate and rear frame beam. This device functions as a retractable intermediate load-transfer component controlled by hydraulic and electrical systems. When the hydraulic system pressurizes the rear chamber of the cylinder, the device becomes a rigid support, enabling the movable jaw to perform normal crushing operations.


The hydraulic jaw crusher operates as follows: When material jams enter the crushing chamber, causing overload, pressure within the cylinder rises. Upon reaching the pressure sensor's set value, the sensor signals the hydraulic system to relieve pressure in the cylinder's rear chamber. The cylinder then retracts the movable jaw until the jammed material is discharged. After clearance, the rear chamber rapidly repressurizes, restoring the movable jaw to its original position for normal crushing operations. The motor drives the pulley via a hydraulic coupling, which in turn drives the eccentric shaft. The eccentric shaft moves the connecting rod, causing the movable jaw to perform reciprocating motion. This crushes the material entering the crushing chamber, and the crushed material is discharged through the discharge port by its own weight.
