Causes of Jaw Crusher Sudden Shutdown or Substandard Output
Fault 1: Main pulley and moving jaw operate normally, but crushing ceases.
Causes: Tension spring breakage; tie rod fracture; elbow plate detachment or fracture.
Remedial Action: Replace tension spring; replace tie rod; reinstall or replace elbow plate.
Fault 2: Output fails to meet factory specifications.
Causes: Material hardness or toughness exceeds range specified in manual; motor wiring reversed causing counter-rotation (jaw rotates clockwise), or motor delta connection mistakenly wired as star; discharge opening smaller than specified; jaw plates misaligned with tooth tips facing each other; On-site voltage is too low; excessive clearance between the moving jaw and bearing due to wear causes relative rotation of the bearing outer ring.
Troubleshooting: Replace or add crushers; reconfigure motor wiring; adjust discharge opening to the nominal size specified in the manual and add crushers for fine crushing; Inspect tooth plate pitch dimensions; replace jaw plates if non-compliant. Align fixed and movable jaw plates to ensure tooth tips align with tooth roots, then secure tightly to prevent displacement. Increase site voltage to meet heavy-duty requirements. Replace bearings or movable jaw.
